♦ One God ♦

First letter of the alphabet denotes the unity and oneness of the Almighty. There was no religion before it created the universe. These religions came later, better to say man made. Adopt the philosophy of One God and universal brotherhood to break the barriers of religious misunderstanding and create a bridge of fraternity under One God. God is the same for all, hence all are brethren.

The wall of falsehood should be broken by following God’s order, i.e. the natural laws apply to all equally, hence equate to everyone. Kings and slave, high and low, rich and poor – all are equal before God. We all are the creation of the same God. In no way one is higher and better than others. All have equal rights On God. All have equal rights to survive and to live peacefully. We must share rather than snatch. Loving and serving his beings is the true service to God. There are many creatures in this universe, all may survive.

The master is the tree of contentment, righteousness is its flower, and enlightenment is its fruit. It keeps ever fresh juicy by joy in God and is ripened by the practice of meditation and performing good deeds. Once the nature of God is known, you realise that all rites and beliefs are futile. He exhorted the people to forget all barriers of caste, creed, religion, region and colour and restore their faith and undivided loyalty to One God-as a source of all creation.

One can know God by knowing One’s soul (atman)-cleanses the impurities of his soul and gets equipped for attaining transcendence. There is light of God within everybody and there is none without Him. One should not allow oneself to be worshipped as She/he is not a God or goddess.

Ahimsa is the soul of all religions. We cannot imagine any religion without Ahimsa. All faiths and sastras in one voice hail ahimsa as the soul pride of humanitarian society since beginning and hence advise people to uphold it in their individual and social context. All Gurus Swami Vivekanand, Maharsi Mahesh yogi, Paramhansa Yogananda Ji, Maharsi Mehijee, Maharsi Dayanand Saraswati Ji, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji etc have in their message, stressed on Love an antidote for hatred. Hatred causes calamities as it spurs disunity, leading to inflicting pain and destruction.

Hatred colours one judgement and causes wrong notions and can spoil one’s character easily, one had to be very much cautious of the tendency to misunderstand ideas and concepts for, whom once in-grained, it becomes very hard to unlearn them. To reach one’s destination, one must follow the right path, path should never be blamed if one does not reach one’s destination. It is not the fault of the path.

It is the fault of decision between right and wrong. The root of happiness is love, and the root of annihilation is hatred. Love and ahimsa are two sides of the same coin. Where there is Love, there is ahimsa. Love can never bear the fruit of cruelty. Ahimsa fosters all good virtues in people and inspires them towards righteous living. Is it justified in slaughtering the innocent animals in the name of religious festivals? The essence of ahimsa is the absence of hatred which causes all evil. Will God or a goddess be happy after seeing the blood of innocent animals?

It is in a true sense, a penance that does not kill even as it does not encourage one to speak even ill of others at any cost self—control, Purity of heart, submission at the feet of God/Goddess, well – wishers of humanity, following the path of truth are the characteristics of ahimsa, without these qualities one can not be a true follower of ahimsa.

Ahimsa makes people kind, benevolent, magnanimous, well – wisher in all living beings. Following a unique path is like groping in the darkness. Train your mind to be calm in every situation. The way to cultivate detachment to worldly attraction and attachment to one’s duty is to lead a life with the view that the entire universe is the temple of God in which each one in fortunate to live. Realised souls see divinity everywhere.

♦ Meditation – Root of Happiness ♦

First of all, I pray Almighty to give me strength and to make my pen powerful to throw light on the Subject captioned, above and to make the concept of meditation as simple and interesting as it should be, without the blessings of Guru so I genuflect at his feet with folded hands to keep his hand on my head to make me successful. I can do what is supposed to be impossible. Blessings are the fruit of meditation. In order to maintain inner peace, calm, stability and smile on face regardless of external circumstances—tension, worry, poverty, health problem, ego etc, we need a daily practice of meditation.

As soon as the spirit of egoism prevails among people, then the bonds of the social order break and man, by seeking his own personal happiness, veritably tumbles out of the heaven and falls into hell. Meditation is the best medication for all agitations. Now—a—days people are bound to take pills; Allopathic or Homoeopathic; Ayurvedic to get relief, just to forget certain things, people go to movies or drink even alcohol to get pleasures, to enjoy life despite knowing that the steps taken are totally temporary and they are enough to spoil the future. They are like first—aid bandages to a wound that runs deep beneath the surface.

Meditation has the delitescent power. Meditation is the only way to calm the mind, fill the heart with joy, and bring peace to the soul. It is not a pill whose effect quickly wears off and carries an unpleasant side effect. It brings people in contact with God. It changes the very nature of your being. Spirituality develops automatically. It is like a bank, if you deposit money—it is not only safe but you get interest forever.

The path of meditation is full of thorns because self – control is the key to unlock the lock of the meditation. Negative forces become very active when you sit in meditation. You feel it is an onerous task to concentrate the mind. It is possible only when your Guru/Guide wishes. His/Her blessings will keep the negative forces away and with God’s grace you will realise the infinite joy and boundless peace that comes from God and through union with your own divine nature.

As you go away from your loved ones, you become eager to talk, likewise it is the same with God. We are one with HIM. He is inside us. Until we realise this oneness, we feel separate and it is quite natural. If the feeling of separateness is there, we need meditation. Meditation is the time to reconnect with Him, delving deep into the inner core of our beings, merging and melting into the divine ocean of bliss.

All most all beloved Gurus have suggested a very simple and easy method to meditate the mind. Even in our holy book ‘Geeta’, a very simple suggestion has been given to meditate the mind—i.e., the tip of the nose, sitting straight, alone. Or just above the junction of two eyes above nose in forehead, surrender yourself at the feet of God. Self – realisation shows the path.

You will become yourself a torch bearer of peace, spreading the light of serenity, love brotherhood and a guide for the younger generation to follow the right path if you practise meditation from the core of your heart. You can make this earth—a Heaven. We can add a feather in the crown of our Guru by doing meditation, by protecting the young generation from being spoiled and by making this earth a Heaven—full of saintly fragrance, happiness, etc. Every – where, in every house, in every family.

Our rishis, saints, gurus are the source of happiness, enlightenment. We exhale first, then inhale. As a small seed had the rudiment of an enormous banyan tree, the chanting of the word ‘‘Om’’ has the same power to connect with God through meditation. Without sowing seed, we can not expect fruit. Doing meditation is the seed, salvation is the fruit. Even the NASA had proved that the sound coming out from the sun is “Om”.

Good things are always difficult to follow, All the Gurus like swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Sri Paramhansa Yogananda, Sri Ram Sharma Acharya, Sri Thakur AnuKul Chandra, Sri Guru Nanak Ji have shown the right path to be one with God and that is meditation.

A bird flies high in the sky with no support. Whoever gains knowledge about the concept of wings can enjoy the truest freedom and rise high with no support.

Who has ever got knowledge by falling prey to a lifeless stone? The point of the matter is that you only get an artistic idol. When we hope and keep faith in wrong things, then the gain of knowledge can not be called a gain in the truest sense. Even when water is vaporised into steam, it still does not lose its fluid. It is extremely important to understand such a God of substance who does not separate himself from us even after death.

Ego is the veil that serves to cover the truth. Where there is ego, there the truth can never be apparent. We need to make this veil of self – importance more and more transparent, and that is the true meaning of meditation. The flowers and their thorns do not grow separately, they grow together as a unit yet, they never complain about any partial behaviour by the ground. Meditation makes a man good, – a good Hindu, a good Muslim, a good Sikh, a good Christian etc, whatever we are. One can feel or see God when there is neither love nor hatred in one’s heart.

♦ IMPORTANCE OF GURU ♦

Guru plays an important role in anyone’s life. Narad is an exemplary Guru to all those in search of salvation with the extra ordinary Bhakti, owing to which he enjoys a close relationship with God. Born as Ratnakar, lives the life of a robber. Valmiki rejects his evil ways and becomes a faithful disciple of Narad. Ratnakar followed Narad with total faith and sincerity. There should not be any doubt between the disciple and guru. God is attainable through devotion under the guidance of Guru.

Till the moment you won’t think you are the lowest among all, you can not understand the greatness of others. Religion is like medicine-one medicine cannot suit every type of disease.

Everyone should choose their own religion and follow it with tolerance. Knowledge gained by any-sage/rishi/Guru can not be transferred to other human beings. The only way is to follow the path laid down by Him/them. Every human can attain that knowledge.

There are two types of followers. One with faith and the other with endowment. If you follow any religion with faith, it will not last long, but with endowment, it will surely last long. He who has conquered the mind can easily conquer the world, say the wise-sage/rishi/Guru. To conquer the mind means keeping it clean and free of impurities caused by sinful thoughts.

The river is personified as a goddess, and bathing in the river (Ganga) is believed to purify and absolve people of sins. Pitted against their idea are also arguments that question the truth and validity of this belief. Who lives on the banks of the Ganga and have occasion to bathe in the waters daily, are cleansed of their sins/ Or is the fish that lives in the Ganga able to achieve Moksha because of its association with the Ganga?

One has to understand the meaning of bathing in the Ganga and the state of one’s mind when bathing. It is the awareness of the symbolic impurity such a sinful thought that lives in the individual’s mind. One has to empty the mind of these to attain purity.

Ahimsa is the soul of all religions. We can not imagine any religion without Ahimsa. All faiths and sastras in one voice hail Ahimsa as the sole pride of humanitarian society since beginning and hence advice people to uphold in their individual and social context.

All Gurus, Swami Vivekanand long ago, and Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra, Sri Arvind Ghosh. Sri Paramhansa Yogananda jee, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, followers all over the world, have, in their message, stressed on Love an antidote for hatred. Hatred causes all calamities as it spurs disunity, leading to inflicting pain and destruction. Hatred colours one’s judgement and causes wrong motions and can spoil one’s character easily.

Once has to be very much cautious of the tendency to misunderstand ideas and concepts, for when once engrained, it becomes very hard to unlearn them. To reach a destination once must follow the right path, path should never be blamed if one does not reach one’s destination. It is not the fault of the path. It is the fault of decision between right & wrong. Love is the root of happiness, where hatred is the root of annihilation. Love and ahimsa are two sides of the same coin.

Love can never bear the fruit of cruelty. Ahimsa fosters all good virtues in people and inspires them towards righteous living. The essence of ahimsa is the absence of hatred, which is the course of all evil. It is, in a genuine sense, a penance that does not like even as it does not encourage one to speak ill of others at any cost. Self-control, Purity of heart, submission at the feet of Lord, Guru, Well-wishers of humanity, following the path of truth are not only the characteristics of ahimsa but teachings of our beloved Gurus, without these qualities, one cannot be true follower of either ahimsa or Satsang. God is not in the sky or in the temples, churches, gurudwaras or at religions places only, but god is within us.

He has explained everything nicely. If we human beings follow his teachings to the letters, the earth will become heaven. His teachings make people kind, benevolent, magnanimous, well-wishers of all living beings. The way to cultivate detachment to worldly attraction and attachment to one’s Guru is to lead a life with the view that the entire universe is the temple of God in which each one is fortunate to live under the umbrella of guru’s blessings. Realised souls see divinity everywhere-every house would become a place of ‘SATSANG’/HEAVEN.

As we call water by different name-Pani, Tanni, Vellum etc, likewise all faiths explain the same thing in different ways, but there is something common in every faith, i.e.- devotion. Devotion is an overwhelming experience felt in one’s inner being when the soul longs to reach the lotus feet of the Lord and it is possible only under the guidance of Guru, following his teachings from the bottom of the heart with any suspicion.

As fish do not remain thirsty in water, to surrender at the feet of a guru is the best path for emancipation of the human soul. The relation between disciple and guru is like iron and magnet. The mind automatically gets attracted to the God as iron gets drawn to the magnet.

It is nothing but faith that arises from the bottom of the heart. The entire universe is like a village. India is a part of it. It is the land of Samrat Ashok, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Maharana Pratap, Veer Shivaji, Sri Khudiram Bose, Guru Nanak, Guru Gobind Singh, Lord Mahavir, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, etc. People from every religion, society have contributed too much to protect the culture and Indianness.

Not based on caste but on the basis of Karma, people are recognised and given status. Vedvyas, Maharshi Valmiki were given the status of great saint. Every one in India must feel proud of being Indian. To blame anyone is not the solution of any problem. How to improve ourselves is the remedy to get rid of all problems. We should follow the teachings of Gurus whole heartily to add a feather to the crown of Our Nation-India. India has always propped aged the message of peace.

— Conclusion —

Not only your Guru will help you in the spiritual journey but will also guide you in your household life — he will give you intuition powers to decide what is good and what is bad for your life, he will give you powers to decide what path to take which will benefit your soul and he will guide you which path to avoid.
