The Life Jacket Of Hope

In the midst of the constant changes of life and confusing or chaotic situations, hope, becomes our life jacket, which helps us to keep afloat and not to drown in the hurricane that at times causes unexpected or sudden changes. Without hope, we expect the worst. Our vision gets cloudy; we do not find or see any ray of light to see by. The mind fills with questions, allowing it to be overpowered by doubts and insecurity. Fear takes control of us and everything turns into a mountain or an un-climbable wall. It seems to us that we will not be able to get out of the difficult and critical moments, or it will be difficult for us to get out of the “hole”. We feel incapable of going forward. Fear and doubt paralyze us and prevent us from deciding with clarity and acting with determination. We need to find support or help and, when we don’t get it, we go even further down.

Living with hope keeps us awake. With hope we are open to the opportunities that life offers us. We overcome fear and expect the best. With hope our forces are joined in order to deal with and overcome difficulties. We maintain the vision that everything will get better and things will streamline themselves, giving out benefits to all. Hope helps us to keep the meaning of our life alive.

Cooperation brings beauty and growth.

Expression: Everyone seeks for cooperation from others, but the beauty lies in cooperating with others. True cooperation is that which is given with the heart and touches the lives of others positively. It inspires others to be cooperative too. This is the true help that one can extend to others.

Experience: When I am able to be cooperative with others and provide them with the help that they require, I am able to enjoy the joy of giving unconditionally. I am free from expectations from others and I am able to enjoy the growth that I perceive in others. I don’t expect others to change for me but because they can improve.

Creating a Positive Atmosphere

To create a positive atmosphere at home or at office, while interacting with your family members or colleagues, emerge positive energizing thoughts in your mind like * I am a peaceful soul, child of the Supreme Soul, the ocean of peace, * I am a loveful soul, * I am a blissful soul, * I am a powerful soul, etc. These positive thoughts spread in your home and office in the form of positive vibrations and have a positive influence on your family members and colleagues also. As a result you can maintain your peaceful, positive state even amidst actions and interactions with them. When you are clearly established in this stage of self-respect (positive consciousness), they will be more co-operative in your work and will have greater respect for you. Obstacles from your surroundings will not affect you.

Expression: Usually spirituality is perceived as something that has to be kept separate from the normal daily life. But true spiritual life is that which is very practical. The one who is able to fill himself with spiritual power is able to use this power for being better and better in his practical life.

Experience: When I am able to recognize the inner beauty and am able to give myself time to be in touch with this spiritual aspect, I am able to be powerful and beyond chaos in all situations. I am able to go within to find the immense power and use it in practical situations. So I find myself being successful in practical situations.

Virtuous thoughts, words and actions restore balance and harmony to our inner life and to our external relationships.

To be strong is to be free from the influence of the body.

Expression: To allow the body to influence the mind is to be doubly ill. The one who allows himself to be doubly ill is not able to deal with the illness of the body. On the other hand, the one who is powerful in the mind is able to maintain the inner strength in spite of the disease and so has the power to put in effort to finish it.

Experience: Instead of being conscious of the disease of the body, all I need to do is to maintain the consciousness of being powerful internally. Then I would not be afraid of the disease of the body but will have the courage to deal with it. I am able to see the disease as something temporary and will soon find myself rid of the illness, as I am powerful within.

अच्छे लोग और अपने हितैषियों को हम पहचान नहीं पाते और अपने विरोधियों के प्रति पूरी तरह शत्रुता, इन्कारने का भाव रख लेते हैं। इसे चिंतन दोष कहा जाएगा। न कोई पूरी तरह अच्छाई से भरा है और नहीं बुराइयों से भरपूर होगा। मनुष्य गुण-दुर्गुण का मिलाजुला रूप है। हमें इस संतुलन के विचार को सावधानी से उपयोग में लाना चाहिए। अपने विरोधियों के विचार जानते रहना चाहिए, खासतौर पर जब वे आपके लिए व्यक्तिगत टिप्पणी कर रहे हों।

यदि इसका निष्पक्ष विश्लेषण करें तो हमें बहुत सी काम की और हितकारी बातें हाथ लग सकती हैं। इस प्रयोग को झेन फकीरों ने बखूबी किया है। जब भी कोई शिष्य उनसे दीक्षित होता, तो गुरु कहते जाओ, हमने पा लिया, हमारे हो गए, अब कुछ दिन जरूरी रूप से हमारे विरोधी के पास जाकर रहो। हमारा दूसरा पक्ष वहां नजर आएगा, लेकिन जाना निष्पक्ष होकर। इस बात की पूरी संभावना रहेगी कि विरोधी कुछ मामले में सही भी हो।

हमारा और विरोधी का पक्ष मिलकर एक तीसरा नया पक्ष बन जाए जो और भी श्रेष्ठ हो सकता है। यदि तुम्हारा इरादा नेक होगा तो हमारे और हमारे विरोधी दोनों की गलत बात को नकार कर तुम एक नई सही बात प्राप्त कर लोगे। इसलिए विरोधी विचार या व्यक्ति से शत्रुता न पाली जाए। यदि नेक इरादे से चलेंगे तब जो आज शत्रु है कल मित्र हो सकता है। यदि अपने भीतर की आध्यात्मिक योग्यता को विकसित करना है तो विरोधी के विचार को सम्मान देना सीख जाएं। स्वयं के व्यक्तित्व को अपने ही विचारों में बांधें न बल्कि विरोधी के विचारों से खोलना भी सीखें।

Living Life On The Surface

In an ideal situation, the thoughts that run in my mind, should be exactly those that I would like and I want. We do exert this control, that we possess, over our thoughts, but it is not complete and it is only sometimes. The more we become completely engrossed in our daily routine, the more our thoughts tend to become reactions to what goes on outside us. That’s when they go out of control and our lives move in an unfocused way. As a result things don’t work out as we might have desired. Then we develop a habit of blaming other people and circumstances, or we justify our pain by telling ourselves we are not very worthy or powerful enough. Often, these two inner strategies go together. The trouble is, both are cover ups, preventing us from going for a long-term solution.

In this way, we tend to live our lives on a very superficial level, without taking the time to find the solution to what is going on wrong inside. Deeper difficulties remain hidden inside. I move from one scene of life to another – eating, watching television, studying in college, getting married, changing jobs, buying a new car or house, etc. without ever stopping. All these are part of living, but if I make them my whole and sole, my foundation, it’s as if I skate across the surface of life without being in touch with the core. As time progresses, an inner shallowness develops. Then the feeling keeps growing inside that ‘there must be more to life than this’. I then, find that my relationships are not working out as I would have hoped and they are lacking in depth.

Easy nature makes tasks easy.

Expression: The ones with an easy nature constantly think of solutions instead of problems. So such individuals are free from the burden of problems and are constantly contributing to make things easy for themselves and others too. The right environment to bring out the best result is naturally created by them.

Experience: When I have an easy nature, I am able to put a full stop in a second with great ease. I am not caught with the waste questions and exclamations. So I am able to enjoy everything that comes my way and move forward constantly with lightness.
