फर्क

आदर्श होना बेहतर है,
बस शर्त ये रहे,
दोहराए जा रहे आदर्श
बल्ली की तरह हों,
भीतर और बाहर से एक जैसे,
ठोस रुप लिए,
जो आदर्श बांस की तरह
खोखले और लचर हैं,
उनकी नियति में
ठठरी की तरह बंधना ही है ।

पुरुषोत्तम होने में कुछ बुरा नहीं
मर्यादा का ख्याल रखने में कुछ ग़लत नहीं,
बुरा है, ग़लत है,
बिना सोचे समझे बस
आज्ञा में सिर हिला देना
फिर चाहे जंगल में भटकना हो
या एक औरत का पांच पुरूषों में बंटना।

शांत चित्त होने में खराबी कुछ नहीं
बस ये फर्क मालूम रहे,
किस जगह पर गाल बढ़ाना है
किस जगह पर हाथ उठाना है
क्रोध भी जीवन का सृष्टा हो सकता है
औऱ शांत मन
एक कदम के फासले पर कायर ।

पिता

पुराने वक्तों के हैं पिता
उन वक्तों के
जब हवा में घुल गयी थी दहशत
खिलखिलाहटें, फुसफुसाहटों में
और शोर सन्नाटे में बदल रहा था
पाक पट्टन के स्कूलों में ।

बंटवारे की चर्चा जो पहले उड़ती थी
चाय की चुस्कियों के साथ
अब हकीकत नजर आने लगी थी
तब किशोर थे पिता,
नफरत की आग घरों तक पहुँच चुकी थी
पलक झपकते ही आपसी सौहार्द का पुल
विघटन की खाई में बदल गया था ।

पुश्तों से साथ रहते आये गाँव तथा परिवार
ढह गए थे ऐसे जैसे कोई दरख्त जड़ों सहित
उखाड़ दिया गया हो,
जलते हुए मकान, संगीनों की नोक पर
टंगे बच्चे, बेपर्दा की जा रहीं औरतें ।

रातोंरात भागना पड़ा था उन्हें
औरतों व बच्चों को मध्य में कर
घेर कर चारों ओर से वृद्ध, जवान पुरुष
बढ़ते गए मीलों की यात्रा कर
कारवां बड़ा होता गया जब जुटते गए गाँव के गाँव..

….और फिर दिखायी पड़ी भारत की सीमा
जो था अपना पराया हो गया देखते-देखते
खून की गंध थी हवा में यहाँ भी
दिलों में खौफ, पर जीवन अपनी कीमत मांग रहा था,
पेट में भूख तब भी लगती थी
…कहते-कहते लौट जाते हैं (अब वृद्ध हो चले पिता)
पुराने वक्तों में… कि सड़कों के किनारे मूंगफली
बेचते रहे, गर्म पुराने कपड़ों की लगाई दुकान
और कम्पाउडरी भी की
फिर पा गए जब तहसील में एक छोटी सी नौकरी,
हाईस्कूल की परीक्षा के लिये
सड़क के लैम्प के नीचे की पढ़ाई
पुरानी मांगी हुई किताबों से
और बताते हुए बढ़ जाती है आँखों की चमक
पास हुए प्रथम श्रेणी में,
भारत सरकार के डाकविभाग में बने बाबू
और सीढ़ियां दर सीढ़ियां चढ़ते
जब सेवानिवृत्त हुए तो सक्षम थे
एक आरामदेह बुढ़ापे की गुजरबसर में,
पर रह रह कर कलेजे में कोई टीस उभर आती है
जब याद आ जाती है कोई बीमार बच्ची
जिसे छोड़ आये थे रास्ते में उसके मातापिता,
एक बूढी औरत जो दम तोड़ गयी थी पानी के बिना ।
दिल में कैद हैं आज भी वह चीखोपुकार
वह बेबसी भरे हालात
आदमी की बेवकूफी की इससे बड़ी मिसाल क्या होगी ।
पिता ऊपर से संतुष्ट नजर आते हैं
पर भीतर सवाल अब भी खड़े हैं !

’पापा याद बहुत आते हो’ कुछ ऐसा भी मुझे कहो

अप्रैल माह की सातवीं और अंतिम रचना एक गीत है जिसके रचनाकार निशीथ द्विवेदी की यह हिंद-युग्म पर पहली दस्तक है। अक्टूबर 1979 मे जन्मे निशीथ शाजापुर (म.प्र) से तअल्लुक रखते हैं। निशीथ ने रासायनिक अभियांत्रिकी मे आइ आइ टी रुड़की से बी टेक और आइ आइ टी दिल्ली से एम टेक की उपाधि हासिल की है। कविताकर्म मे रुचि रखने वाले निशीथ सम्प्रति आयुध निर्माणी भंडारा मे कार्यरत हैं।
हम यहाँ माँ विषयक हृदयस्पर्शी कविताएं पहले भी पढ़ते रहे हैं, वही पिता के जिम्मेदारी और अनुशासन के तले दबे व्यक्तित्व का कोमल पक्ष अक्सर कविताओं मे उतनी प्रमुखता से उजागर नही हो पाता है। प्रस्तुत कविता अपने पारंपरिक कलेवर मे एक पिता की ऐसी ही अनुच्चारित भावनाओं मे छिपे प्रेम और विवशता को स्वर देती है।

गीत

माँ को गले लगाते हो, कुछ पल मेरे भी पास रहो !
’पापा याद बहुत आते हो’ कुछ ऐसा भी मुझे कहो !
मैनेँ भी मन मे जज़्बातोँ के तूफान समेटे हैँ,
ज़ाहिर नही किया, न सोचो पापा के दिल मेँ प्यार न हो!

थी मेरी ये ज़िम्मेदारी घर मे कोई मायूस न हो,
मैँ सारी तकलीफेँ झेलूँ और तुम सब महफूज़ रहो,
सारी खुशियाँ तुम्हेँ दे सकूँ, इस कोशिश मे लगा रहा,
मेरे बचपन मेँ थी जो कमियाँ, वो तुमको महसूस न हो!

हैँ समाज का नियम भी ऐसा पिता सदा गम्भीर रहे,
मन मे भाव छुपे हो लाखोँ, आँखो से न नीर बहे!
करे बात भी रुखी-सूखी, बोले बस बोल हिदायत के,
दिल मे प्यार है माँ जैसा ही, किंतु अलग तस्वीर रहे!

भूली नही मुझे हैँ अब तक, तुतलाती मीठी बोली,
पल-पल बढते हर पल मे, जो यादोँ की मिश्री घोली,
कन्धोँ पे वो बैठ के जलता रावण देख के खुश होना,
होली और दीवाली पर तुम बच्चोँ की अल्हड टोली!

माँ से हाथ-खर्च मांगना, मुझको देख सहम जाना,
और जो डाँटू ज़रा कभी, तो भाव नयन मे थम जाना,
बढते कदम लडकपन को कुछ मेरे मन की आशंका,
पर विश्वास तुम्हारा देख मन का दूर वहम जाना!

कॉलेज के अंतिम उत्सव मेँ मेरा शामिल न हो पाना,
ट्रेन हुई आँखो से ओझल, पर हाथ देर तक फहराना,
दूर गये तुम अब, तो इन यादोँ से दिल बहलाता हूँ,
तारीखेँ ही देखता हूँ बस, कब होगा अब घर आना!

अब के जब तुम घर आओगे, प्यार मेरा दिखलाऊंगा,
माँ की तरह ही ममतामयी हूँ, तुमको ये बतलाऊंगा,
आकर फिर तुम चले गये, बस बात वही दो-चार हुई,
पिता का पद कुछ ऐसा ही हैँ फिर खुद को समझाऊंगा!

Wi-Fi and Mobile Broadband – Component Guideline
Keep your laptop connected with the right wireless options

For a while now, Wi-Fi has been an inalienable right for notebook owners. But that’s not the end of the story when it comes to wireless connectivity. Aside from choosing between different standards of Wi-Fi, many users purchase mobile broadband subscriptions to get Internet access from the road. Read on to figure out just how much connectivity you need.

=> Types of Wi-Fi

Whether you buy a 10-inch net book or an 18-inch desktop replacement, your laptop will definitely have Wi-Fi. This means that, provided you’re located within range of a router (and know the password, if there is one), you can get online without the aid of an Ethernet cable.

The two main Wi-Fi standards today are 802.11n (wireless-N) and the older 802.11g (wireless-G). Many budget models still offer 802.11g as the base configuration option, but there are other low-cost notebooks, particularly preconfigured models designed for stores such as Best Buy, that have wireless-N.

802.11g supports speeds up to 54 Mbps. This is fine for everyday Internet use, such as checking e-mail and surfing the Web, because this is much faster than even the fastest broadband connection.

802.11n supports speeds over 100 Mbps. Unlike 802.11g, which runs only on the 2.4-GHz spectrum, 802.11n can run on either the 2.4-GHz or 5.0-GHz spectrum. This means it can work with dual-band routers, which reserve low-intensity tasks (such as e-mail) for the 2.4-GHz band, and higher-intensity ones (such as streaming HD video) for the 5.0-GHz band.

If your needs are basic and you want to cut every corner, you’ll likely be satisfied with 802.11g. But since 802.11n only costs around $25 more, you might want to consider upgrading to future-proof your notebook. If you’re interested in wirelessly streaming video, particularly high-def content, between devices in your home, 802.11n is a must.

Q. Do You Need Mobile Broadband?

Ans =>
Mobile broadband allows you to get online anywhere; it doesn’t matter if you happen to be near a router. If this sounds like the kind of Internet connection you’re used to getting on your smart phone, well, there’s a reason for that. Mobile broadband subscriptions are sold through the same carriers—AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, and, lately, T-Mobile—that operate cell phones (more later on the technology behind mobile broadband).
If you frequently need Internet connectivity outside of your home or office, you will have difficulty relying on your Wi-Fi card alone; free public Wi-Fi can be hard to come by, and you can’t always find a paid hotspot, either. On the other hand, mobile broadband connections are not as fast as Wi-Fi, and monthly subscription fees (typically $60 for 5GB per month) can be steep. So get mobile broadband only if you really need it.

– Choosing the Right Mobile Broadband Service

There are two major technologies propelling mobile broadband: Evolution Data-Optimized (EV-DO) and High Speed Packet Access (HSPA). Sprint and Verizon Wireless employ EV-DO; AT&T and T-Mobile, HSPA. Although the end user won’t notice much (if any) difference in upload and download speeds, they have different hardware structures, so an adapter made for one won’t work with another. No matter which provider you choose, you should expect speeds of 600 kbps to 1 Mbps for downloading and 500 to 700 Kbps for uploading.
The primary factors you should consider when choosing a mobile broadband provider are coverage, price, and contract terms. Look at coverage maps from the providers you’re considering and see if they match up with areas to which you frequently travel. To avoid overage charges, get a data plan that provides at least 5GB per month of transfer.
If you want the freedom to easily change between carriers, a relatively new technology called Gobi allows users the option of using either EV-DO- or HSPA-enabled mobile broadband cards. You’re most likely to find this offered in business notebooks (HP, for example, offers it in many of its SMB laptops). That’s good news for businesses that don’t want to commit to a carrier or piece of hardware for any specified length of time.

– Mobile Broadband Cards and Adapters

When you purchase mobile broadband, you need to decide what type of adapter you want: integrated (internal) or external. Each has its advantages.
Internal cards, which need to be installed by the manufacturer when the notebook is built, are convenient because they don’t stick out or use up one of your system’s ports. However, getting an internal card is more expensive than an external one, most notebooks aren’t available with integrated broadband cards, and if you get one you are locked into using one service provider on that notebook.
If you buy an external adapter, you can use it on any notebook in the world. You even have the liberty of unplugging it, and installing the software on another laptop—a useful scenario if you have primary and secondary PCs, or if there is more than one notebook in your household.
External adapters are available in ExpressCard or USB flash drive form factors. ExpressCard adapters don’t stick out as much, but many notebooks don’t support them, so USB is usually a better option.

Q. What is Mobile WiMAX and Do You Need it?

Ans =>
Whereas most mobile broadband options today run on the same 3G network as phones, the next generation of mobile broadband, called Mobile WiMAX, is already being rolled out. WiMAX, often dubbed 4G for short, boasts faster speeds than 3G: 3 to 6 Mbps, to be exact.
Right now, the service is only available in select cities, such as Baltimore and Las Vegas. But if you’re in those areas, you can buy a 2GB monthly pass for just $35, a significantly lower price than what you’d pay for a 3G card with a 5GB monthly allowance. Moreover, the penalty for exceeding that bandwidth cap is $10 per gigabyte, whereas it would be more than $50 if you went overboard with a 3G card. In our hands-on testing, we’ve been impressed with the swiftness of downloads, although not necessarily the upload speeds. For now, though, unless you live in a WiMAX-enabled city, it’s not an option.

प्रतिकूलताएँ भी वरदान बन सकती हैं

प्रकृति हमारी जननी है, जो हमें सदैव ऐसी परिस्थिती प्रदान करती है, जिसमें हम सभी का विकास होता है। जीवन में धूप-छाँव की स्थिती हमेशा रहती है। सुख-दुख एवं रात-दिन का चक्र अपनी गति से चलता रहता है। ये आवश्यक नही है कि, हर पल हमारी सोच के अनुरूप ही हो। प्रतिकूलताएँ तो जीवन प्रवाह का एक सहज स्वाभाविक क्रम है। सम्पूर्ण विकास के लिए दोनो का महत्व है। दिन का महत्व रात्री के समय ही समझ में आता है।
मनोवैज्ञानिक जेम्स का कथन है कि, ये संभव नही है कि सदैव अनुकूलता बनी रहे प्रतिकूलता न आए।

कई बार जीवन में ऐसी परिस्थिती आती है, जब लगता है कि सफलता की गाङी सही ट्रैक (रास्ते) पर चल रही है, परन्तु स्पीड ब्रेकर (गति अवरोधक) रूपी प्रतिकूलताएं लक्ष्य की गति को धीमा कर देती हैं। कभी तो ऐसी स्थिती भी बन जाती है कि सफलता की गाङी का पहिया रुक जाता है। अचानक आए अवरोध से परेशान होना एक मानवीय आदत है जिसका असर किसी पर भी हो सकता है। परन्तु जो व्यक्ति मानसिक सन्तुलन के साथ अपनी गाङी को पुनः गति देता है, वही सफलता की सीढी चढता है।

डॉ. ए.पी.जे.अब्दुल्ल कलाम साहब का मानना है कि,
“Waves are my inspiration, not because they rise and fall,
But whenever they fall, they rise again.”

विपरीत परिस्थिती में निराशा का भाव पनपना एक साधरण सी बात है, किन्तु निराशा के घने कुहांसे से वही बाहर निकल पाता है जो अदम्य साहस के साथ अविचल संकल्प शक्ति का धनि होता है। ऐसे लोग पर्वत के समान प्रतिकूलताओं को भी अपने आशावादी विचारों से अनुकूलता में बदल देते हैं।

रविन्द्र नाथ टैगोर ने कहा है कि, “हम ये प्रर्थना न करें कि हमारे ऊपर खतरे न आएं, बल्कि ये प्रार्थना करें कि हम उनका सामना करने में निडर रहें”

विपरीत परिस्थितियों में भी अपार संभावनाएं छुपी रहती है। अल्फ्रेड एडलर के अनुसार, “मानवीय व्यक्तित्व के विकास में कठिनाइंयों एवं प्रतिकूलताओं का होना आवश्यक है। ‘लाइफ शुड मीन टू यु’ पुस्तक में उन्होने लिखा है कि, यदि हम ऐसे व्यक्ति अथवा मानव समाज की कल्पना करें कि वे इस स्थिती में पहुँच गये हैं, जहाँ कोई कठिनाई न हो तो ऐसे वातावरण में मानव विकास रुक जायेगा।“

अनुकूल परिस्थिती में सफलता मिलना कोई आश्चर्य की बात नही है। परन्तु विपरीत परिस्थिती में सफलता अर्जित करना, किचङ में कमल के समानहै। जो अभावों में भी हँसते हुए आशावादी सोच के साथ लक्ष्य तक बढते हैं, उनका रास्ता प्रतिकूलताओं की प्रचंड आधियाँ भी नही रोक पाती। अनुकूलताएं और प्रतिकूलताएँ तो एक दूसरे की पर्याय हैं। इसमें स्वंय को कूल (शान्त) रखते हुए आगे बढना ही जीवन का सबसे बङा सच है।

परिवार में बहनें बेहतर दोस्त होती हैं, लेकिन मेरी बहन तो फरिश्ता है। इसलिए इस वुमन डे पर मैं अपनी बहन पूजा चौरसिया का नाम नॉमिनेट करना चाहता हूं। जो इंटरनेशनल टाइटल जीतने वाली पहली भारतीय महिला ट्रायएथलीट है। पूजा के खेल सफर की शुरुआत सन 2002 में स्वीमिंग से हुई। उस समय उसकी उम्र मात्र 9 साल थी। बचपन से ही पूजा का सपना गोल्ड मेडल जीतने का था। उसके जुनून और प्रयासों को देखते हुए इंडियन ट्रायथलान फेडरेशन (आईटीएफ) ने उसे ट्रायथलान जूनियर स्क्वैड कैंप 2004 के लिए सेलेक्ट किया।

ट्रायथलान एक ऐसी दौड़ स्पर्धा है, जिसमें प्रतियोगी को एक के बाद एक होने वाली तीनों प्रतियोगिताओं – तैराकी, साइकिलिंग और दौड़ में हिस्सा लेना होता है। पूजा हमेशा से ही ट्रायथलान में हिस्सा लेने की इच्छुक थी, लेकिन परिवार की आर्थिक स्थिति ठीक न होने के कारण यह संभव नहीं हो सका। दरसअल खेल के ये तीनों प्रारूपों की तैयारियों में काफी खर्च आता है।

सन 2006 में जब उसने नेशनल एक्वाथलन चैंपियनशिप में बड़ी लीड के साथ गोल्ड मेडल जीता तो आईटीएफ ने उसे ट्रायथलान में हिस्सा लेने का मौका दिया। पूजा की किस्मत ने इस अवसर पर उसका साथ दिया। हालांकि, ट्रॉयथलान प्रतियोगिता के लिए उसकी प्रैक्टिस ठीक नहीं थी। साइक्लिंग के लिए उसके पास बाइक भी नहीं थी। लेकिन उसने एक किराए की साधारण सी साइकिल से ट्रायथलान में पहला गोल्ड मेडल जीतते हुए सबको चौंकाकर रख दिया।

पूजा के इस हैरतअंगेज परफॉरमेंस को देखते हुए दो महीने बाद ही गुजरात स्टेट ट्रॉयथलान एसोसिएशन से उसे सन 2007 में असम में आयोजित होने वाले 33वें नेशनल गेम्स में भाग लेने का मौका दिया।

नेशनल गेम्स की तैयारी के लिए हमने उसे 10 हजार रुपए एक साइकिल खरीद कर दी। असम में अन्य प्रतियोगी उसकी साधारण सी साइकिल को देखकर उसका खूब मजाक उड़ाया करते थे। क्योंकि उनके पास अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर की एक से बढ़कर एक महंगी साइकिल थीं, जिनकी कीमत 1.5 लाख रुपए से भी ऊपर की थी। यह सब देखकर पूजा शुरुआत में अपसेट भी होने लगी थी। अंतत: उसने सारी बातों को दरकिनार करते हुए अपना मन प्रैक्टिस में लगाया। वह जानती थी कि ईश्वर कोशिश करने वालों को ही सफलता प्रदान करता है। पूजा ने यहां भी इतिहास रचते हुए गोल्ड मेडल जीतकर सबको आश्चर्यचकित कर दिया।

यह गौरव न सिर्फ पूजा को प्राप्त हुआ, बल्कि गुजरात राज्य के इतिहास में भी पहला मौका था, जब वहां के किसी प्रतियोगी ने ट्रॉयथलान में पहला गोल्ड मेडल अपने नाम किया था।

इन सफलताओं के बाद आईटीएफ ने चीन में आयोजित होने वाले एशियन चैंपियनशिप के लिए पूजा का सेलेक्शन किया। इसके बाद पूजा ने कई अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्पर्धाओं में हिस्सा लिया और देश के लिए अनेकों मेडल्स भी जीते।

हालांकि, उसके पास अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्टैंडर्ड की साइकिल नहीं थी, जिसके चलते उसे अनेकों जगह परेशानियों का सामना भी करना पड़ा। इसी बीच गुजरात के एक स्थानीय बिजनेसमैन राजन शाह ने पूजा के लिए स्पेशल बाइक खरीदने में मदद की। पूजा की उपलब्धियों को देखते हुए सन् 2009 में राजन शाह व गुजरात सरकार की मदद से पूजा के लिए अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्टैंडर्ड की साइकिल खरीदी गई।

मैं जब भी अपनी रोजमर्रा की जिंदगी से ऊब जाता था या कभी निराश होता तो पूजा ही मुझे प्रोत्साहित करती। ट्रॉयथलान स्पर्धा के लिए रोजाना की 6 घंटों की प्रैक्टिस के बाद भी वह मेरे और अपनी एमएससी की पढ़ाई के लिए समय निकाल लिया करती है।

अब तक पूजा 4 अंतरराष्ट्रीय, 28 राष्ट्रीय स्तर के मेडल्स के साथ 186 मेडल्स जीत चुकी है। इस दौरान उसने जीवन में कई बार जानलेवा खतरों का भी सामना किया और कई बार घायल भी हुई, लेकिन उसने कभी भी उम्मीद नहीं छोड़ी। उसके जीवन में अनेकों बाधाएं आईं, लेकिन वे उसे कमजोर नहीं कर सकीं। इसलिए इस वुमन डे पर मैं अपनी बहन को दिल से बधाई देता हूं। मुझे उसका भाई होने का गर्व है।

Why is the media here so negative? Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements? We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why? We are the first in milk production. We are number one in Remote sensing satellites. We are the second largest producer of wheat. We are the second largest producer of rice. Look at Dr. Sudarshan , he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters.

I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news.

In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime. Why are we so NEGATIVE? Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things? We want foreign T. Vs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology.

Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance? I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a developed India . For her, you and I will have to build this developed India . You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation. Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance.

Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours. YOU say that our government is inefficient. YOU say that our laws are too old. YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage. YOU say that the phones don’t work, the railways are a joke, The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination. YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits.

YOU say, say and say. What do YOU do about it? Take a person on his way to Singapore . Give him a name – YOURS. Give him a face – YOURS. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best. In Singapore you don’t throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores. YOU are as proud of their Underground links as they are. You pay $5 (approx. Rs. 60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU come back to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity… In Singapore you don’t say anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn’t dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai .

YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah . YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds ( Rs.650) a month to, ‘see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else.’YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, ‘Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so’s son. Take your two bucks and get lost.’ YOU wouldn’t chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand .

Why don’t YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo ? Why don’t YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston ??? We are still talking of the same YOU. YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own. You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country, why cannot you be the same here in India ?

Once in an interview, the famous Ex-municipal commissioner of Bombay , Mr.Tinaikar , had a point to make. ‘Rich people’s dogs are walked on the streets to leave their affluent droppings all over the place,’ he said. ‘And then the same people turn around to criticize and blame the authorities for inefficiency and dirty pavements. What do they expect the officers to do? Go down with a broom every time their dog feels the pressure in his bowels?

In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan . Will the Indian citizen do that here?’ He’s right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility. We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms. We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity.

This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the public. When it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child! and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? ‘It’s the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons’ rights to a dowry.’ So who’s going to change the system? What does a system consist of ? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbours, other households, other cities, other communities and the government.

But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr.Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away. Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England . When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money.

Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one’s conscience too…. I am echoing J. F. Kennedy ‘s words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians…..

AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA

To make big things small is to remain in peace.

Expression: Many times life brings situations, which are difficult and seem impossible to work on. But there should be the ability to transform something as big as a mountain into something as small as a grain of sand. To do this means to look for solutions instead of looking at problems. It also means to make effort to find the right answers for the problems.

Experience: When I have the ability to look at things lightly, I will be able to make even big things as small. This gives me the courage to deal with situations with ease. Then I am able to remain in peace. Such a state of mind is naturally able to bring out the best solutions under all circumstances.

– कुछ करके दिखायो –

“कुछ करके दिखायो” ……..”कुछ करके दिखायो” ,
ये जीवन मिला है……..इसमें नए सपने सजायो ।

हम आए हैं यहाँ ……न अपनी मर्ज़ी से ,
फिर कैसे चले जाएँ ……..खुद की खुदगर्जी से ?

बहुत कुछ है देने को ……इस समाज को ,
बहुत कुछ है लेने को ……इस समाज से ।

इस मनुष्य योनि में ……अपनी पहचान बनायो ,
जो भी मिला है …..उसे औरों के संग बाँटते जायो ।

पैदा होने पर ……माँ-बाप सोचा करते हैं ,
हाँ यही करेगा ……..हमारा नाम रोशन ।

पीड़ी दर पीड़ी चलेगी …..ये कहानी ,
कि करके दिखायो तुम भी …….अपने खून को गरम ।

रोज़ कहते हैं सभी ………कि दम है तो सामने आयो ,
ताकत से नहीं ……अपने दिमाग से …..कुछ खेल जाओ ।

आज जो मेहनत करेगा ………वो कल मीठा फल चखेगा ,
जो लड़खड़ा गया पहले कदम पर …….वो उम्र भर फिर चल न सकेगा ।

हर पल-पल में छिपी है ……एक ज्ञान की लम्बी दास्तां ,
उस दास्तां में डूबते जाओ ……..और तय करो अपना रास्ता ।

बहुत से विद्यार्थी हार जाते हैं …..चलकर कुछ कदम ,
टूट जाते हैं वो अक्सर ……कहते हैं हममे नहीं है दम ।

हौसले अपने हो बुलंद …..तो हार में भी जीत है ,
ज़ज्बा है कुछ करने का ……तो हर घड़ी में प्रीत है ।

रोज़ इन शब्दों को सुनकर …..मन अब भरने सा लगा है ,
“कुछ करके दिखायो” ऐसे कटाक्षों से …….ये जिस्म भी अब डरने लगा है ।

इल्तजा इतनी है समाज से ……..कि हमें भी सोचने का ….एक मौक़ा तो दो ,
हाँ दिखाएँगे करके हम भी कुछ …..थोडा सब्र करना तुम भी सीख लो ।

करके हम भी दिखाएँगे …..इस युग में चमत्कार ,
मत कहो “कुछ करके दिखायो “…….नहीं हैं हम इतने भी बेकार ॥

A Message To All-

मत करो हतोत्साहित अपने शब्दों से ……आने वाली नयी पीढ़ी को ,
